Over the Summer I started teaching a classical guitar ensemble class at Ear Craft Music. We are giving a concert this weekend so I urge you to come by and check us out this Sunday from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM at Ear Craft Music. We will be performing works from the Renaissance, Baroque, and Classical periods arranged for duet, trio, and quartet. I am so proud of my students, some of whom have been playing guitar for less than a year. They have worked very hard to bring this music to the public, and I couldn’t be more impressed by the result. Here is the program:
I just got done putting “Fratelli D’Italia” (the Italian national anthem) up on YouTube. This track will also part of the italian album I am working on (most of the rest of the album is available in streaming audio format on my myspace profile). I had fun putting this one together! Thanks to Renato Bellucci and to Earcraft Music for the lovely guitar. It truly was quite the gift to be able to borrow this instrument for a day!
You don’t say! Yes, I finally caved in and put some of my classical repertoire on YouTube. I typically shy away from doing so since I want my channel to be unique and, let’s face it, most standard repertoire has been done to death on YouTube. Even though I’m more of a composer/arranger these days I still practice my classical repertoire EVERY DAY. I have to—it’s good for the soul as well as the chops.
Besides, I don’t think anyone has done this duet on YouTube yet (that I am aware of). So here’s me playing with the great Nick Lanzer, a very talented man who was lucky enough to study under some great teachers. I present to you the first of Fernando Sor’s “Six Valses” from Opus 39. We will be recording the other 5 Valses soon!
I can’t remember the year, maybe it was 2005 or 2006, when I first heard about the Dresden Dolls. I was hanging with my friend, John Natale, and he was going on and on and on about how he thought Boston had the best music scene in the country. John is one of those . . . → Read More: Classical Guitar Cabaret!
My YouTube channel turned 1 year old on April 1st of last month I am proud of the 12 videos I managed to get done in that time. I was churning out one video a month—that’s not prolific but it’s certainly not too shabby for my first year; it all started with a bang . . . → Read More: Viva 1985!
The New England opus is almost done. Movement one was finished this morning. Movement two was finished last summer. The third and final movement will be finished in the fall.As explained in an earlier blog the whole project will be a short film with 3 pieces written for solo guitar/super 8mm film. . . . → Read More: My Ode to the Seacoast
Got done with an arrangement this week, took out my guitar this morning, and recorded it. Not bad, all in all. The original piece was written by the legendary Emilie Autumn, who is currently touring Europe. I’m going to post two embedded players here: One is my arrangement, and the other is . . . → Read More: I’m Just a YouTube Machine and I Don’t Work for Nobody But You(Tube)
I was inspired to do this YouTube video recently because a potential client for the entertainment company I work for (http://www.cuzinrichard.com/) said that she wanted to walk down the isle at her wedding to the theme from the movie “The Princess Bride.” And so I arranged the tune and put together a quick MP3 to . . . → Read More: The Theme to the “Princess Bride” Arranged for Classical Guitar
